For the perfect day out, why not stroll through the "inspirational” 3 acres of Whitlenge Gardens and Tea rooms near Hartlebury. Open all year, 7 days a week mon to sat 9 – 5, sun 10 – 5. Whether you are an avid gardener of many years or you are just starting out with your first plot, Whitlenge Gardens, the home of Creative Landscapes is teaming with ideas.Take in the sounds of the many water features, from the peaceful ripples of the mill stone bubbler, to the babbling of the beautiful man-made waterfalls, from spouting water lizards to a full sized 100 foot stream and pond system. Walk the twisted brick pergola lined with fan trained apples and pears which create a beautiful blossom walk in the spring. Sit in the living hornbeam gazebo, part of a RHS award winning garden exhibited at the Malvern Spring show and the N.E.C., which inspired Alan Titchmarsh to present Gardeners World Live from inside it! There is a chamomile lawn which releases its heavenly scent when walked upon and with its surrounding varieties of mixed herbs and aromatics produces an incredible sensory experience. Children enter if you dare the mysterious man made cave complete with atmospheric swirling mists, and something lurking in the depths. You must take the time to walk the unicursal path of the beautiful turf labyrinth, which awards you a ‘wish’ when you reach the middle, then contemplate the stone circle which is aligned according to the years solstices and equinoxes.Remember to introduce yourself to the Green Man, and then let the kids go wild in the new Adventure Playground. This is Keith and Franchesca Southalls of Creative Landscapes very own show garden, developed over the last 27 years. It was designed to inspire clients and public alike with heaps of design ideas, from simple bubblers, patios and walling to feature rockeries, cave follie and living tree sculptures. The garden has over 800 varieties of beautiful plants ranging from the gigantic 6-foot leaves of the Gunnera, through the heavenly scents of the old fashioned roses, to the fine detail of the alpines. Something for every kind of gardener. After your exploration of the gardens you can then relax and enjoy refreshments, including hot Panini’s, homemade soups, a large variety of sandwiches plus Hot and Cold specials of the day all in the beautiful Tea Room - themed around the “old potting shed”. See tools and implements from times gone by.To compliment your tea and coffee try the delicious homemade and specialty cakes, where ever possible they use local, Fairtrade and Organic produce. The new craft shop has some unique and interesting items, again where possible from local craftsmen and artists. This amazing oasis was created by Keith and Fran with the vision of providing somewhere that people can go for a ‘different’ experience. There visitors book says it all….” a peaceful haven”…..” a magical experience”….”something different around ever corner”…. “truly inspirational, I’ve come away with dozens of new ideas, thankyou” So if you want to be inspired then this is your ‘must visit’ garden
